“I will absolutely hire this company in the future. They did some major work in my bathroom (tile, plumbing, fixing a wall, installing a new vanity, mirror, toilet, and painting). I felt that Ron really went above and beyond in helping me with this project, even assisting me in finding the perfect granite pattern for my countertop and bargaining to get me a better price on the counter. The men were very professional and friendly and did a wonderful job with all of the parts of my bathroom. They found creative ways to deal with some random plumbing issues that came up during the project, too. I am so happy that I chose WCH for my project!”

“Ron of Windy City Handyman has helped me with multiple projects with great service and reasonable prices. Projects: Ceiling fan and light fixture install, additional outlet, hanging a flat screen tv, careful tear down of kitchen cabinets, attaching cabinet doors, and installing and re-framing a new exterior door. He is very flexible in his scheduling, and was able to complete the work with little disruption to my own work schedule. And he stands behind his work—returning a week later to troubleshoot a new way to hang my tv when it became a bit loose from the brick/mortar behind my drywall. I will hire him again for sure!”

“Ron was very professional from the time I first contacted him until the job was completed. I am going to use him again. He was the first person I called of the three people that were given to me so I really did not get a chance to interact with any of the other people.”

Description Of Work:

Our condo building had suffered some water damages because of some snow melting in the roof last winter. It was not an urgent matter but the drywall and paint in the baths (the area most damaged) was showing some damage.

We also needed the roof fixed. It was not leaking all the time, just when water was reaching a certain level and that had only happened that one time.
Work included: For 2 baths: fixing the dry wall, plaster, and painting. For the roof: fixing all and possible leaks and make sure that the repair blended with the current material.

Comments:

Ron was very understanding of the nuances of our building and he work around the dates we had for accomplishing it.
Work went very smoothly, one worker was there for 2 full days. On the second day, Ron and another guy (Pete?) fixed the roof. They used drop clothes and cleaned up after them every day.

We had to do a little change of plans since one of the bathrooms had a little extra (and not accounted for in the estimate) work. Fortunately Ron was able to squeeze it in (thank you!!). That change was not exactly cheap but we were extremely happy with the result.

Description Of Work:

My employer used me as the agent to see that a house was prepared for a new tenant. While this home was basically in good condition, it was dated, and needed modernization. There were extensive cracks in the ceiling, and the aftermath of various attempts at painting needed to be made to look more professional. New lighting fixtures and fans were to be installed throughout the home. The front door of the home was to be refinished, and a new lock installed. The kitchen floor needed to be replaced.

Windy City Handyman presented an itemized bid, negotiated with me to be certain that both of our needs were being met with regards to the scope of the work, the time-frame (completion due date), and the budget for the project. At all points during this negotiation, there was respectful give-and-take.

Once the project was amended and approved, the crew worked independently to complete the work according to the proposed time scheme. They came and went into the home as planned; I supervised from nearby. The workers were both accomplished professionals and pleasant to work with. Throughout the process, they were open to suggestion and politely explained why it was better/worse to follow some specific strategy rather than another.

Comments:

I was very pleased with the extensive painting that was done. Each room was done in contrasting colors, and the overall effect was cohesive. My greatest satisfaction, though, came from the quality of work that was done with the ceiling repairs. Heating pipes in the ceilings had caused extensive cracking over the twenty years prior. This crew repaired these cracks and proceeded to paint them very professionally; they looked like new ceilings. The crew finished on time and within the prescribed budget. I was very satisfied with Windy City Handman, and others who have had work done on their homes stated this work was of very high quality. I have used this company in the past, but never for a project this large. I would definitely use them again

Description Of Work:

Repaired drywall in ceiling and walls damaged by burst water pipe, replaced drywall and painted. Removed old water heater. Sealed and insulated door to water heater room. Repaired concrete.

Comments:
Excellent – prompt, courteous, and efficient.
